Bad diet is the main reason why the population are overweight. Diet is responsible for the energy in our bodies, our emotions, our weight, in effect - us.

Often, we mistake diets for starving ourselves but the reality is that a quick improvement is needed. Many people don’t know how to adjust their diet without changing their daily routine. It’s a lot easier than you might think.

* Be aware of your consumption of fruits and vegetables. It sounds obvious and you have heard it before many times. EAT MORE VEGETABLES AND FRUIT|FRUIT AND VEGETABLES! But not too much as excess fruit will give you excess sugar.

So, be wary of fruit diets as they may not be wholesome as you might think.

* Reduce your intake of cookies, ice cream and pies after meals. You have probably heard that this is detrimental to your diet, but it is good practise to be reminded again. NO COOKIES AFTER MEALS!

Reduce your oils and fats consumption, and increase your consumption of healthier oils like olive oil. Then cut down on your sweets intake. Nothing too painful, start by reducing by half and work from there.

* Reduce Carbohydrates - this is the main energy source for your body. The body first consumes carbohydrates then the fats, and finally the proteins when supplying us with energy.

If you don’t use all of the calories up, then you will have excess calories, hence excess fat. . So the rule is to eat less carbohydrates - try to keep them at 60% of you calorie intake. Don’t let them turn up in vast amounts.

* Another great method of reducing your calories intake that is becoming popular recently is the use of Fat Binders which are known bind to about 28% of the calories you consume.
